Ten for Your Seven

Well, thank you MySpace for giving us a player that holds more than one tune. So, here's what we're gonna do. Every Saturday we are going to give you Ten for Your Seven. They'll be featured on our player all week long at our place on MySpace: yourtexasmusic.

These will be our picks of the Texas music we like, from those up and coming bands we live for and maybe even from some bands who have up and come and are just a taste away from major major stardom. Enjoy. Let us know what you think.

Noncommittal Blues, Buxton

I can't stop singing this song. This is one of those better late than never discoveries. Apparently Brianne (the daughter) featured this and the old man wasn't paying attention.

Singer Songwriter, Okkervil River

I like drums and guitars and lyrics and melodies and songs that go for it with energy. You've got taste, you've got taste what a waste for that's all that you have.

Rolling Thunder, Astronaut Suit

Hypnotic. The only way out of here is coming back to you. I'm coming, I'm coming. Hold on.

Evelynn, jude/ross

I was raised on hooks and songs you could sing. So, this has a hook and I can sing it. So sue me. I like it.

Baby, You're Mean, Paula Nelson Band

I love the rolling piano start to this song. Some might say that being Willie Nelson's daughter gives you a leg up, but it helps to play piano.

Other Younger Days, Murry Hammon

Ah, the spiritual side of this Old 97 star. The lyrics don't come in right away, but when they do it is something else again.

Seven Conversations, some say Leland

This is one of Brianne's picks and she fell to an allergy attack and any of you who know her know that poking at her when she's sick is not a good idea. Good song, maybe she explain why when she revives.

Back to Jackson, Jason Eady

I like gritty sounding singers and this has all the edge I need from country rock.

Baton Rouge, Chip Dolan

Ah, here's another bouncing piano this one partners with a clarinet. Who can resist? Toe-tapping tune. Gonna wear them out down in Ba-ton Rouge. Yeah.

Penny, Johnny Gringo

Not many folks could write a decent song about picking up a penny, but Johnny does a masterful job of it in this song about luck and changing fortune. Oh, little penny I've got my eye on you.
